Ceiling Board Material used:
For ceiling installations we use a good quality 6mm rhino board that is nailed to branders (32mm x 32mm) that are then covered with metal cover strips to finish the joins. This installation can be fitted to any room, is the most basic form of ceiling and also the most cost effective to install.
For plastered ceilings we usually use 9.5mm Rhino boards which are then screwed onto the branders (32mm x 32mm). This is this finished off with Fibre-tape to cover the joins to give a smooth and professional finish.
Interior Ceiling board finishing:
Our skilled plasters are experienced in fine skimming or plastering the Rhino board. With this type of installation, the cost is usually a little higher, but adds a lot more value to ones home as the finished product is visually pleasing.
Exterior Ceiling Boards:
When fitting ceiling boards in exterior applications, (for example) under metal sheeting roofs on patios, we use a fibre cement board, which is also nailed to branders and then all joins are covered with flat metal cover strips, for a professional finish. This fibre cement board is ideal for exterior installations in the Cape weather conditions, as the ceiling board harden when wet.
These types of ceilings are normally used for a commercial type of application, but modern trends often see these applications being used in kitchens and bathrooms – as it never requires painting and always looks clean and neat. We normally use 12mm gypsum boards that is covered in vinyl, with white T sections and white wall angles.
